heart cat.jpg (67858 bytes)Heart problems are a common malady in dogs and cats.  Recent advances in cardiology are helping us treat our cardiac patients with much greater success than ever before.   We have very high tech cardiology diagnostics that rival those used in human medicine.  Cardiac patients are given a full workup including the following:

  • Chest Radiographs (X-rays)
  • Electrocardiogram to determine electrical conduction disturbances
  • Blood pressure measurement to check for hypertension
  • Echocardiogram to determine the size and shape of the heart as well as the over all performance of the heart as a pump.
  • Color Flow Doppler Ultrasound to determine location and severity of valvular and anatomical defects.

Once we have completed our diagnostics,  a therapeutic regimen of drugs, diet and exercise recommendations will be formulated.
