How to Clean Your Pet’s Ears

Regular ear cleaning is one of the best ways to detect and prevent ear problems. Most ear problems arise from either:

  • Allergies (food or inhaled allergens)
  • Foreign bodies in the ear (such as foxtails)
  • Ear mites

If you find that your pet is exhibiting any of the following you should seek veterinary attention:

  • Shaking the head
  • Scratching the ear(s)
  • The ears are red or swollen
  • The ears have a sour smell

Proper technique in cleaning makes all the difference in how effective your efforts are. Click here to watch a brief video I’ve prepared to help you learn how to correctly clean the ears.
